The Shows of the NC Renaissance Festival

At the North Carolina Renaissance Festival, there is much to do. However, you don’t have to spend the day walking to enjoy yourself. There are many different shows that are sure to delight you as well. It should be pointed out, that while many of the earlier show are totally family North Carolina Renaissance Festivalfriendly, as the day goes on, some of the later shows may have a more adult theme. In addition, shows labeled “LC” refer to “Lose Cannon” and are geared more toward an adult audience. Some of the Ren Fest shows include:

The Joust - Probably the most loved activity of the day is the joust. As spectators gather in the bleachers and all around the field, they are actually made part of the show. The crowd is encouraged to cheer and yell for their assigned knight as they watch the chivalrous actions of the riders. The joust is actually a 3 part program, although each one can be watch independently of the others. The jousting shows story line is usually a variation on a theme, like: Battle for the Queen's Favor, The King's Tournament of Champions and A Joust to the Death

The Don Juan & Miguel Show -Once again, they have several shows throughout the day, each of which that can stand alone. This is a great one for the family—especially if you go to the show earlier in the day. You will be delighted by the comedy routines and impressive sword skills of Don Juan, Miguel and the beautiful Esmeralda
whose whip cracking skills are sure to amaze and astound.

Cast in Bronze stage -Nearby the stage for Don Juan and Miguel is Cast in Bronze where you will hear beautiful music of America's singular traveling Carillion. In fact, it is the only act of its kind in the world and has been part of ceremonies for Pope John Paul as well as U.S. Presidents. North Carolina Ren FestThe Carillon weighs over 13 tons and features 48 bronze bells which are played beautifully and skillfully by musician, Frank DellaPenna.

The Ancient Art of Falconry - See the Sky Kings as they entertain and educate guests on the art of falconry. See ospreys, falcons, hawks, owls, and even parrots show off their amazing skills.

Tortuga Twins - Hear unique renditions of classic fairy tales as this trio (yes, 3 of them) share their unique perspectives on how things really happened. In fact, you may even be called upon to help tell the story! This show is more designed for adults—regardless of the time of day you attend.

Barely Balanced - Amazing feats of balance are sure to astound you. Be amazed as you see stilt walking, gravity defying acrobatics, fire breathing and much more. This is definitely one to put on the “Must Watch” list.
