The Piedmont Region of North Carolina

The area from I-95 and the Blue Ridge Parkway is known as the Piedmont. Most North Carolinians live in this region, particularly in the areas of Charlotte and Raleigh. The Piedmont’s Triad region is comprised of Greensboro, Winston-Salem, and High Point.

While the Piedmont is an unlikely tourist destination, there is much to do. There are many golf courses, sporting events such as college basketball games, or stock car racing. If you enjoy outdoor activities, there is boating, fishing, swimming, or camping at our parks and lakes. Other things include the NC Zoological Park in Asheboro, Carowinds, or Emerald Pointe.

For those who enjoy cultural attractions, Raleigh is home to many art, history and natural history museums, as well as the NC Symphony. In Chapel Hill there is the planetarium and the Playmakers Theatre. Other places of interest are Durham’s museum of Life and Science and the American Dance Festival.
