North Carolina Skiing
One favorite outdoor activity enjoyed by residents and visitors alike is snow
skiing. Beginning in November and lasting through the winter
months, the ski resort areas in the Blue Ridge Mountains
provide snow fun for you entire family. If you live in the South this is a great place to prepar for your Colorado skiing vacation because any powderphile has to find their way to CO eventually.
The Ashville
area is home to Ski Wolf Laurel The Laurel has 15 slopes
varying in degrees of difficulty and skill requirements.
The Ski Wolf offers SKIWEE which is a program for teaching
children. The children will learn to ski through races,
games, and other planned activities. SKIWOLF also has a
lodge which has offers snacks as well as meals in a restaurant
from which you can enjoy incredible views of the surrounding
area. There are also rooms available at the lodge or you
can find rental cabins in the Ashville area.
As
you head north to Banner Elk, NC, you will find Sugar Mountain
Ski Resort. Sugar Mountain with its 18 slopes and 8 lifts
is the largest ski resort. The slopes range in difficulty
from bunny slopes for beginners to drops of 1,200 feet on
the advanced slopes.
In the Linville, NC area is the Hawksnest Golf and Skiing At the Hawksnest,
you can enjoy snowboarding and skiing on some of the area’s
steepest slopes. The Hawksnest also offers lessons, rental
equipment, and has special deals on lift tickets. Other ski
resorts in NC include Beech Mountain in Beech, NC, the Appalachian
Ski Mountain in Boone, Scaly Mountain in Franklin, and Sapphire
Valley Ski Area in Sapphire, NC. Regardless of your skiing
ability or age, you are sure to enjoy your visit to North
