The Mountain Region of North Carolina

From April until the end of October, the mountains of North Carolina are a favorite spot for visitors. You can enjoy a myriad of activities, go to craft shows and festivals, visit historic parks or simply find a high spot and take in the view. During early spring and summer, the mountains may be wet and cool, so be sure to have a jacket or sweater. As summer temperatures peak, so does the traffic, but there are many motels, inns, lodges, bed and breakfast to accommodate the traveler. And, if you like to really get back to nature, there are campgrounds for the various types of camping.

The busiest time of year is in October. At this time the leaves are changing and the leaves of reds, gold’s and all the colors in between rival the rainbow with their riveting colors! It is well known by many that the peak is usually around the third week. So, be sure to book your campsite, cabin or place of lodging well in advance as many places fill up fast.
