Fort Raleigh National State Historic Site

When you are in the Outer Banks area, be sure to visit Ft. Raleigh National State Historic Site. The Fort Raleigh site has exhibits and displays showing items from the original 1585 fort. There is furniture from the Elizabethan period, a film on the attempts at colonization and a reconstructed fort on the original location of Fort Raleigh. Here you can see items excavated from the site, and listen as park guides present programs and lead special events at the site’s locations.
