The Blue Ridge Parkway

Connecting the Shenandoah National Park in Virginia and the Great Smokies National Park is the Blue Ridge Parkway. As you travel this scenic route you will find the gorgeous sights more than compensate for its leisurely pace. The roadside is liberally littered with scenic views and picnic area, nature trails and benches. As you pass through, you will enjoy the countryside and farmland whose beauty changes from season to season.

Along the Parkway, there are many places to stop and visit. These places include Grandfather Mountain, Linville Gorge and Caverns, Devil’s Courthouse, Moses Cone Park, Crabtree Meadows and Mount Pisgah. The Parkway is maintained by the National Park Service; you can get detailed maps and guides at any of the Parkways visitor’s centers.

Make sure to stop for a day or two in Asheville, North Carolina while exploring the Blue Ridge Parkway.
